βœ”οΈNormal skin: Venusia derm, cetaphil moisturising cream

βœ…Treat acne promptly
Don’t take acne lightly. It can leave behind permanent scars. Don’t pop your acne and treat them correctly. Best to visit a dermatologist for prescription medications for acne.

β–ͺ️Few creams for acne prone skin:
βœ”οΈSalicylic acid in the morning
Sebogel
Sebiva
βœ”οΈAdapalene at night
Adaferrin
Differin

βœ… No need for retinol . Use Niacinamide & ceramide instead

βœ…Don’t try too many products
Be good to your skin and don’t experiment too much. You don’t need all the products you see online.

βœ…Keep scalp clean
Washing your scalp once a week is not enough. Scalp has to remain clean. Wash atleast 2-3 times a week.

βœ…Change pillow cover every 2 days
All the oils form hair tends to rub in the pillow case while you sleep which comes on the face. This may exacerbate acne. So changing pillow cover is very important especially if you have oily acne prone skin and or oily scalp.

How is Skin Cancer Diagnosed?

How is Skin Cancer Diagnosed?

Hi, my name is Jessica Dorsey. I am a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon and today I’m going to be talking to you about how we diagnose skin cancer.
So, skin cancer is extremely common and it’s increasing in its incidence. It affects one in five people. Basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma are the most common types and melanoma is one of the more serious types of skin cancer.
For melanoma, there’s a nice mnemonic that we call the ABCDEs of melanoma where A stands for asymmetry meaning the lesion itself will not be symmetrical or mirror image of each side. B stands for border so if you have a spot that has an irregular border you may want to come in and see a board-certified dermatologist for that. C stands for color which means color change within the mole or color variation, so you can have different hues of brown or black or red or blue, etc. D stands for diameter greater than six millimeters or greater than a pencil eraser, and E stands for evolving, so anything that is new, changing, bleeding, itching, symptom change, that would be a clue for you to come in.
If you think you have skin cancer it is important to see a board-certified dermatologist because they have had over three years of specialized training in the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer. If your doctor is suspicious for a skin cancer, they may perform a biopsy and that involves numbing the skin with a local anesthetic and then performing either a shave biopsy or a punch biopsy. A shave biopsy is a thin sliver of the tumor where they can send it off to the lab and have it tested. A punch biopsy goes a little bit deeper and would require usually a few stitches placed.
So, the most common locations for skin cancer are usually going to be your sun-exposed areas. Although they can occur in almost every area of the body your basal cells and your squamous cell carcinomas are more likely to be found on the head such as the nose, the tops of the ears, the scalp, and also the backs of the hands. Your melanomas are going to be found in men usually on the trunk or on the head and neck and then in women more often on the extremities such as the legs and arms. If you have any questions regarding skin cancer, dermatologic surgery, Mohs surgery, or any other skin-related concern, please reach out to the U.S. Dermatology Partners location nearest to you.

Dry skin is a common condition that can be uncomfortable, irritating, and even painful. If you’ve ever experienced itchy, flaky, or rough patches on your skin, you know how frustrating it can be. But what causes dry skin, and how can you prevent it? In this blog post, we’ll explore the key factors behind dry skin and some practical tips for keeping your skin healthy and moisturized.

First, let’s take a closer look at what dry skin actually is. Dry skin occurs when your skin loses its natural moisture and becomes dehydrated. This can happen for a variety of reasons, including:

Weather: Cold, dry air can suck the moisture out of your skin, leaving it dry and flaky. Exposure to wind and sun can also contribute to dryness.

Hot showers and baths: Although it may feel relaxing to take a long, hot shower or bath, it can actually dry out your skin. The hot water can strip your skin of its natural oils, leaving it dehydrated.

Harsh soaps and detergents: Many soaps and detergents contain chemicals that can be harsh on your skin. Using these products can strip your skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness.

Medical conditions: Certain medical conditions, such as eczema, psoriasis, and thyroid disorders, can cause dry skin.

Age: As we age, our skin naturally becomes thinner and loses some of its natural oils. This can lead to dryness and itchiness.

So, how can you prevent dry skin? Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

Moisturize: Using a good moisturizer can help keep your skin hydrated and prevent dryness. Look for a moisturizer that’s formulated for your skin type and use it regularly, especially after showering or washing your hands.

Avoid hot water: Try to avoid taking hot showers or baths, as this can strip your skin of its natural oils. Instead, opt for warm water and limit your shower or bath time to 10-15 minutes.

Choose gentle products: Look for gentle, fragrance-free soaps and detergents that won’t dry out your skin. If you have a medical condition that’s causing your dry skin, talk to your doctor about treatment options.

Stay hydrated: Drinking plenty of water can help keep your skin hydrated from the inside out. Aim for at least eight glasses of water a day.

Humidify: Using a humidifier in your home can help add moisture to the air, which can in turn help prevent dry skin.

By following these tips, you can help prevent dry skin and keep your skin looking and feeling healthy. Remember, if you have persistent dryness or itching, it’s always a good idea to talk to your doctor or a dermatologist for advice.
